Current Building

At the moment our school is housed in a church building that is converted into classroom space each school day by using blackboards on rollers. In Liberia, the students learn by reciting the learning material the teacher wants them to remember. With approximately 200 students in the school each day, the noise volume is overwhelming.

This is the new land where the school will be built. At the moment we have a mini school building there for grades 6-8.

New Building as designed by EMI

The picture below shows the view from the front of the school with lots of vent screen to help with circulation. The students entrance is on this side as well. Over on the left side of the picture is the entrance for vehicles which would bring food supplies and provide maintenance.

The new school building will have 3 levels.

  • The main floor will have an indoor and outdoor kitchen space, generator room, janitor room, 4 classrooms, washrooms, small outdoor playground for the littles, administration room with a staff bathroom and a security room.

  • The second floor will have another administration room with a staff bathroom, 4 classrooms, an auditorium, and a music room.

  • The third floor will have a staff room, staff bathroom, 4 classrooms and a resource room.

This is the inside view in which you can see the three levels. The beautiful colored steps are to add color and warmth to this covered area. This area will be used for playing out of the sun/rain. The steps will be used to sit on and visit as well as for lunch eating space.

Here is another view of the beautiful stairs which leads up to the auditorium and the stairs to the third level.

From the Ground Up

UCM Building Project

There are many facets to starting from scratch on a building project. The first thing we did was to purchase the property. Then in September 2023 , we sent a team of professionals from EMI to Liberia to make a plan for the new building.

EMI is a Christian non-profit made up of architects, engineers, surveyors, and construction managers. Since 1982, their worldwide mission has been to develop people, design structures, and construct facilities which serve communities and the Church.

Now comes the huge task of finding partners who will provide the funds to build this beautiful new school. If you have a desire to help these less-fortunate children receive a better education, please reach out to us.
